Local organisation receives crucial grant for emergency accommodation for women fleeing abuse this winter
Leicester based Charity Zinthiya Trust has been awarded a £7,500 grant from the Open Society Foundations, with assistance from financial adviser Kris Amliwala – a Real Entrepreneurs' Club member.
This generous funding will be instrumental in supporting the trust’s emergency accommodation initiatives for women escaping domestic abuse during the challenging winter months.
Winter can be an especially difficult time for individuals experiencing domestic violence, as the colder weather and seasonal pressures often increase the urgency for safe shelter. With this grant, the trust will be able to expand their capacity and offer secure, temporary accommodation to vulnerable women in our community.
Emergency housing needs are growing
The need for emergency housing continues to grow, as many shelters and support services are stretched beyond their limits. This funding from the Open Society Foundation comes at a critical time, allowing them to respond swiftly to the demand and ensure that women in crisis are not left out in the cold.
“We are incredibly grateful for this grant,” said Founder and CEO of Zinthiya Trust Zinthiya Ganeshpanchan. “It was through The Real Entrepreneurs' Club that I met Kris. Without that meeting, we wouldn't have the funding!
"Having the support of the Open Society Foundation and Kris, means we can provide women fleeing violence with a warm, safe place to stay, something that is vital, especially during the winter months. This support sends a strong message to those in need that they are not alone and that there are resources available to help them rebuild their lives.
“Our trust would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the Open Society Foundation for their continued commitment to supporting organisations dedicated to ending domestic violence and homelessness. With their help, we can bring hope and security to those who need it most this season.”
